ONLINE EVENT “MAKEUP ART IN UKRAINIAN CINEMA” HELD AT THE JUNIOR ACADEMY

On May 8, 2026, as part of the activities of the Junior Academy of Design and Arts, an online event titled “Makeup Art in Ukrainian Cinema” took place. The meeting brought together over 50 participants interested in filmmaking, visual culture, and contemporary creative practices.

The speaker of the event was Olena KHOMUTETSKA, a lecturer at the Department of Audiovisual Arts. She introduced the audience to the vital role of makeup in creating cinematic characters and its significance in shaping the visual language of Ukrainian cinema.

During the session, participants explored how makeup art brings to life figures from both Ukrainian history and the present day, how visual images conveying the strength, dignity, and emotions of the Ukrainian people are created, and how makeup contributes to the development of a distinctive Ukrainian style in cinema.

Special emphasis was placed on visual media as a tool for cultural memory, self-identification, and creative resistance. The meeting became a space for inspiration, professional dialogue, and a deeper understanding of contemporary Ukrainian culture.
