A distinctive feature of this year’s exhibition is its simultaneous presence in two countries. Alongside the opening at KSADA, the exhibition “Pangram: Letters on the Front Line” will open at the Warsaw Observatory of Culture in Poland. It is organised with the support of the project’s international partners — Fundacja Ari Ari.
This symbolic connection between two cities demonstrates that Kharkiv continues to create during the war, while its cultural voice is heard across Europe.
The exhibitions will feature 135 poster works created between 2016 and 2026 by participants of the International Competition on Fonts and Calligraphy Pangram, telling stories about Ukraine through the language of letters. Here, a letter is not merely a design element. It is a symbol of memory, identity, resistance, and the right to one’s own language and future.
The Scythian Pectoral, Petrykivka painting, contemporary graffiti, alongside figures of prominent Ukrainians — Hryhorii Skovoroda and Viacheslav Chornovil — serve as sources of inspiration for finding a new typographic language.
Pangram is an International Competition on Fonts and Calligraphy founded in Kharkiv in 2016 at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Over the past decade, it has developed into an international platform for students and young designers, acting as a unique laboratory for a new Cyrillic type — free from imperial and Soviet typographic models.
