GRAND OPENING OF THE GRAPHIC ART EXHIBITION “VAPLITE: A GLIMPSE THROUGH THE CENTURY”

On March 13, 2026, the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts hosted the opening ceremony of the graphic art exhibition “VAPLITE: A Glimpse Through the Century”.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated by welcoming remarks from the Chairman of the Academy’s Academic Council, Oleksandr SOBOLEV; First Vice-Rector, Maryna TOKAR; Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Vladyslav KUTATELADZE; Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Olha IVASHCHENKO; and the project curator and Head of the Department of Theory and History of Arts, Viktoriia BOHDANOVA-NAIDENKO.

A special emphasis was placed on addressing the students: all speakers highlighted the significance of young artists engaging with such a profound and serious topic as the literary legacy of Ukraine’s “Executed Renaissance”. This generation of artists and writers, which was tragically destroyed, left behind a spiritual treasure that continues to inspire creativity and the search for identity today.

The exhibited works were created by students of the “Graphics” and “Graphic Design” educational programmes. Through a language of images and symbols, they aimed to offer a new perspective on the legacy of VAPLITE and demonstrate its relevance to the modern generation.

The exhibition became not only an important artistic event but also a powerful symbol of intergenerational dialogue: contemporary graphic interpretations aim to draw attention to the VAPLITE heritage, connecting history and modernity, word and image, memory and creativity.

We invite everyone to visit the exhibition and experience the power of art and the living memory of Ukrainian culture.
