On August 27, 2026, the Conference of the Labour Collective took place at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.
The event opened with the National Anthem of Ukraine and a minute of silence to honour the fallen defenders. Gratitude was expressed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose courage allows the Academy to continue its work and development even in frontline Kharkiv.
In his report, Rector Oleksandr SOBOLIEV emphasised that the Academy’s mission is to educate a new generation of professionals in the fields of fine arts, audiovisual arts, architecture, and design.
“We must serve not only as an educational institution, but also as a cultural and scientific centre for the region“, the Rector highlighted.
Rector Oleksandr SOBOLIEV then outlined the strategic priorities for the Academy’s development for 2026–2030, aimed at strengthening KSADA’s competitiveness among Ukrainian higher education art institutions:
The importance of maintaining consistent teaching standards and ensuring active research, methodological and creative work by academic staff was emphasised. Particular attention was also paid to the results of the admissions campaign and the issue of student withdrawals, which affects the Academy’s funding and staffing policies.
A particularly positive highlight was the news of receiving a grant of nearly 1 million UAH from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation to create a monument dedicated to fallen artists. Students and academic staff continue to actively participate in artistic projects, strengthening international partnerships and creating new opportunities for creative growth.
Academic Secretary Hennadii SHTAN reported on changes to the Academy’s structure and the composition of the Academic Council.
The Conference concluded with a call for unity and mutual support, for it is through unity that strength is born, capable of overcoming any challenge.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes! Vivat Academia!
