Every year on May 8, we observe the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II 1939 – 1945. This is a day when we pause to remember millions of people whose lives were taken by the Second World War. We remember their faces, their stories, and their dreams that were never fulfilled because of the brutality of war.
The Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts honours this day as a reminder that peace is the greatest value. We bow our heads in memory of those who gave their lives for freedom and feel deep gratitude to those who endured the darkest times.
Today, as Ukraine enters its fourth year of living through the realities of a full-scale war, we understand the price of peace more deeply than ever. Every day, Ukrainians suffer from Russian aggression, yet continue to show the world an example of resilience, humanity, and strength of spirit. This day of remembrance is not only about the past. It is about the present and the future — about our shared struggle for the right to live freely, to create, and to love.
Eternal memory to the fallen.
Glory to the living heroes!
Peace will prevail!
