An important stage of the international poster competition “RE:FRAME LILIEN” has been recently completed. The Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region, together with international partners, announced the launch of this large-scale project for the creative community. Master’s students of the “Visual Communication Design” educational programme, under the supervision of Professor Volodymyr LESNIAK from the Department of Graphic Design, took part in this competition.
The initiative encouraged young artists, graphic designers, and visual culture researchers to reinterpret the figure and artistic legacy of Ephraim Moses Lilien — a prominent graphic artist and photographer born in Drohobych, widely regarded as the “father of Zionist iconography” and a master of Art Nouveau.
“RE:FRAME LILIEN” is not merely a competition, but an attempt to build a bridge between the classical art of the early 20th century and contemporary visual languages. Participants had the opportunity to deconstruct Lilien’s ornamentation, symbolism, and linear style, integrating them into the context of today’s challenges.
We are proud to announce the names of the young artists who managed to find the most compelling visual metaphors to reinterpret the heritage of Ephraim Moses Lilien. Today, the finalists received honorary certificates confirming their high professional level and the originality of their creative approach:
Adelina Baleiko, Olha Voitenko, Alona Voronenko, Yelyzaveta Hlek, Vlad Hubanov, Elvina Lysak, Mariia Perepelytsia, Iryna Riabtseva, Sofiia Sanzharovska, Alina Sapryka, Yelyzaveta Skorokhod, Anastasiia Tsepordii, Nadiia Yaroshenko
