Viktoria KINZBURSKA, Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, paid a visit to the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.

During her visit, she learnt about the Academy’s activities, viewed creative projects by students and lecturers, and toured the unique exhibition dedicated to Barbara Karinska — the prominent Kharkiv-born costume designer and the Academy Award (Oscar) winner.

Together with KSADA Rector Oleksandr SOBOLIEV, she discussed strategic directions for the Academy’s development, as well as issues regarding the modernisation and restoration of its buildings damaged by Russian shelling.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the specific features of organising the educational process for art-related courses. Painting, design, sculpture and other creative disciplines involve a significant amount of practical work, which requires specialised workshops, equipment and direct work with materials. Therefore, ensuring appropriate conditions for blended and online learning remains one of the key challenges for the Academy in the context of the war.

During discussions with members of staff and while visiting classrooms and studios, Viktoria KINZBURSKA highlighted the resilience of the Academy, which, despite the challenges and destruction caused by the war, continues to operate, educate students, implement artistic projects, and make a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed to continue cooperation and joint efforts towards the Academy’s development, infrastructure restoration, and creating optimal conditions for the educational and creative activities of students and lecturers.
