KSADA RECTOR OLEKSANDR SOBOLIEV LIVE ON RADIO “NAKYPILO”

On April 29, 2026, Oleksandr SOBOLIEV, Rector of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, spoke live on Radio “Nakypilo” about a large-scale international poster initiative dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.

He emphasised that the project was not a competition, as it did not involve winners or prizes. Its main goal was to remind the world of the tragedy and, above all, of its enduring consequences.

The “4th Block” Association invited the global design community to participate, resulting in approximately 700 posters submitted by authors from 49 countries. From these submissions, 265 professional works and 147 student works (including those by KSADA students) were selected for exhibition, bringing the total number to 412 posters by 285 authors. This extensive collection has been divided into three parts: one is on display at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, another at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, and the third will soon open at the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine in Kyiv. At the same time, related artistic events are taking place in various cities around the world, including Potsdam, Dortmund, Berlin, Montreal, Graz, and others.

Oleksandr SOBOLIEV also highlighted the student photo project “After Us”, created by students of the Faculty of Audiovisual Arts and Media Technologies. Under his supervision, the young authors explored parallels between the Chornobyl tragedy and the events brought about by the ongoing war. In conclusion, the Rector invited everyone to visit the exhibition and witness how art preserves memory and shapes a culture of reflection on historical events.
