On January 29, 2026, an online lecture dedicated to Surrealism, one of the most mysterious and influential art movements of the 20th century, took place. The event, which brought together over 60 participants, was held as part of the Junior Academy of Design and Arts activities.
The lecture was delivered by Sofiia Mariia BONDAR, a third-year student of the Department of Theory and History of Arts, who provided a comprehensive yet accessible overview of surrealist art.
During the meeting, participants delved into the world of the subconscious, dreams, and visual paradoxes that formed the foundation of surrealist thinking. The lecture explored the movement’s defining features, its philosophical and aesthetic principles, and examined the works of leading artists and iconic art pieces that significantly influenced the development of European culture.
Special attention was given to the role of Surrealism in shaping subsequent art movements and its relevance to contemporary artistic thinking, design, and visual culture in general.
The event attracted significant interest and became an important part of the educational and outreach activities of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.
