INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY

On January 27, 2026, the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts honours the memory of the victims of the Holocaust — one of the most tragic chapters in human history.

A particular symbol of the Holocaust for Kharkiv is Drobytsky Yar — the site of mass executions of the Jewish population in 1941–1942. A monument in the shape of a Menorah stands there, serving as a reminder of the tragedy and a call for peace.

Today, however, this landmark of remembrance bears the scars of Russian aggression. The damaged memorial has become painful evidence that hatred and violence are once again attempting to destroy not only human memory but the Ukrainian people themselves.

Drobytsky Yar has become a symbol of our resilience.

As we honour the victims of the Holocaust, we remind the world that no aggression can ever be justified. The memory of the past compels us to build a future based on respect, humanity and peace.
