III International Scientific and Practical Conference<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cAudiovisual Art and Media Technologies: Modern Trends and Development Prospects\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

On\u00a0May 13-14, 2026<\/b>, on the occasion of\u00a0Ukraine\u2019s Science Day<\/b>, the\u00a0Faculty of Audiovisual Arts and Media Technologies<\/a>\u00a0of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts successfully held the\u00a0III International Scientific and Practical Conference \u201cAudiovisual Art and Media Technologies: Modern Trends and Development Prospects\u201d\u00a0<\/b>in a hybrid (online and offline) format.<\/p>\n

The primary objective<\/b>\u00a0of the conference was to engage participants in discussions surrounding current theoretical and practical issues in\u00a0audiovisual arts and media technologies<\/b>, while raising public awareness of the field.<\/p>\n

The conference took place under the auspices of<\/b>\u00a0the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the State Agency of Ukraine for Arts and Art Education, and the Eastern Regional Scientific and Art Centre of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. It was\u00a0supported by the<\/b>\u00a0Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (Georgia), Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania), LUCA School of Arts (Belgium), the International Committee of Thematic Screen Art Festivals CINETOUR, the online cinema platform \u201cKinoButy\u201d (\u201cCinever\u201d), and the\u00a0media partner<\/b>\u00a0\u2014 \u201cNakypilo\u201d Media Group.<\/p>\n

The event brought together over 70 scholars, filmmakers, and students from Ukraine and\u00a010 countries<\/b>, including\u00a0Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Belgium, Italy, Georgia, Turkey, Portugal, Japan, and the USA<\/b>. The diverse line-up of participants featured university professors, film festival directors, Oscar and Emmy-winning creators, and representatives of CINETOUR.<\/p>\n

During the plenary opening session, participants were greeted by\u00a0Yevhen Lavro, Deputy Minister of Culture of Ukraine<\/b>, who emphasised that despite the ongoing war, Kharkiv remains a resilient and powerful hub for scientific thought and creative innovation.<\/p>\n

Warm greetings were also delivered by\u00a0Emmy-winning director and actor Jaswant Shrestha<\/b>\u00a0(USA), who praised the unbreakable spirit of Kharkiv\u2019s academic community.<\/p>\n

The keynote opening presentation<\/b>\u00a0of the conference focused on documentary cinema in times of historical challenges. It was delivered by prominent filmmaker\u00a0Iryna Pravylo<\/b>\u00a0from the I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, who discussed her latest documentary \u201cFlowers Beyond the Dark<\/b>\u201c. This film, which intertwines three stories from the Kyiv region during the spring of 2022, was recently selected for the prestigious Carmel International Film Festival in California.<\/p>\n

Another major highlight of the conference was an exclusive\u00a0creative meeting with Oles Sanin, a renowned Ukrainian filmmaker, cultural figure, and Vice President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine<\/b>. He shared professional behind-the-scenes insights into the cinematography, storyboarding, and music design of his historical film \u201cDovbush<\/b>\u201c. He also discussed his long-standing creative connection to Kharkiv and the Academy, where parts of his earlier award-winning movie \u201cThe Guide<\/b>\u201d were filmed.<\/p>\n

International educational cooperation was further highlighted through the\u00a0presentation of the joint artistic project \u201cInstructions\u201d<\/b>. This unique cultural and academic exchange brought together students and lecturers from both\u00a0KSADA<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Sint Lucas Antwerpen<\/b>\u00a0in Belgium. Curated by\u00a0Hanna Kurinna and<\/b>\u00a0Kurt Vanbelleghem<\/b>, the project was first presented in Antwerp in March 2026, and its participants shared their experiences, travel reflections, and collaborative artworks with the conference audience.<\/p>\n

The conference programme also included five thematic panel sessions covering key areas of audiovisual research and creative practices:<\/p>\n
